How much does getRx cost?
For a patient the app is completely free. However, your prescriber must also use the prescriber getrx app.

How did you come up with the name?
We chose a name that best describes the what the app does: it helps prescribers and patients get the medications they need quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
What web browsers can I use for getRx?
The getRx web interface works best with the following browsers: Chrome- the latest three versions; Internet Explorer-Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 9 and Internet Explorer 10; Firefox-The latest three versions; Opera-the latest three versions; and Safari-the latest three versions.
How can I change my password?
You can change your password on the web portal by going to your profile and selecting and typing the new password in “Password Change” and then typing it again in “Password Change Confirmation”.
Can I change my email address later on?
Yes you can always change your email address.
What is getRx?
getRx is a family of applications–web-based and mobile–that helps patients and providers communicate with one another, and with more than 55,000 pharmacies across the US. It uses cloud-based technology to keep communications fast and secure.
Can Android and iOS use this app?
The answer is yes. From the beginning, getRx has developed the for use on both Android and iOS devices.
Why should I use getRx?
If you are a person who sees a prescriber and fills and refills medications you will benefit from using getRx. Instead of calling and waiting to hear from your prescriber you will be able to request prescriptions and refills in a fraction of the time it would take when using the telephone.
Patient
I’m a patient, do I have to pay for his app?
No the app for patients is completely free.
Who can see my profile?
Your prescribers will be able to see your profile, if you are the primary account holder any added member will be viewable to only you.
Does this app have any of my medical records?
Only a limited amount of health information is maintained in the getRx database. getRx stores your name, address, date of birth, allergies, insurance card and prescriptions. This data is encrypted and stored on secure servers.
As a patient how will I know when my prescription has been sent to the pharmacy?
You will receive a pop up notification on your mobile device stating that your prescription has been sent to the pharmacy.
Am I notified when the pharmacy has the prescription ready for pick up?
No, not by getRx.
Can I message my prescriber at any time?
Yes by using the getRx messaging feature.
Can I see all my current meds at any time on the mobile getRx app?
Yes, all your current medications will be located under the label “Current Meds” tab which is located on the upper right corner of the “scripts” screen.
If my prescriber discontinued my medication can I still view the information for that discontinued medication to show another prescriber?
Yes you can. All Discontinued Medications will be found under RX History which is located on your left side menu bar.
Will I receive a notification when my prescriber has messaged me?
No, at this time getRx does not have that functionality.
What is Select Pharmacy?
If your prescriber sent a prescription but designated the prescription to go to a pharmacy that you select, then after your prescriber has approved your prescription it will be listed under the “Select Pharmacy” tab. Click on the medication name to select it and open the choose pharmacy screen. Chose your pharmacy and then send the prescription to your chosen pharmacy.
Will I receive notification when my prescriber approves my medication?
Not at this time, but getRx will soon have this functionality available.
Where is my menu button?
On the upper left hand corner of any screen you will see three lines. Touch the three lines and the menu screen will appear on the left.
Do I have to add my insurance card onto my profile?
No you do not.
Can I get a prescription filled when I’m on vacation?
Most likely you can. However, some pharmacies may not fill prescriptions for some medication or for patients and physicians who do not reside in their area.
Can I delete any prescribers that I do not see anymore?
Yes, just swipe left and you will see on your right delete in a red box.
How do I set my favorties on the mobile?
There is not a “My Pharmacies” or “Favorite Pharmacies” tab on the mobile app. However, you can create a favorite pharmacy on the app when a prescription has been written for you. To create a favorite pharmacy, select a pharmacy for the prescription. After selecting a pharmacy, a pop up notification will ask if you would like to save that pharmacy as a favorite. If so, click yes.

What is the difference between an approval queue and a review queue?
A prescription cannot be sent if it is sent to the Approval Queue until the Supervising Prescriber approves the prescription. A prescription in the Review Queue has been already been sent is is placed in the queue only for review.
Can I message other Prescribers on getRx?
Yes. With getRx messaging you are able to message all Prescribers, Mid Level’s and Scribes that are in your clinic.
Can I message inside the clinic?
Yes. With getRx messaging you are able to message all Prescribers, Mid Level’s and Scribes that are in your clinic.
What information do I need to add a patient?
To add a patient to your patient list, the only information that you need is the patient’s first and last name and date of birth.
What is “My Favorite Pharmacies?”
Every Prescriber can add or create a list of favorite pharmacies. Favorite Pharmacies will be found under a tab labeled “Favorite Pharmacies”. Once a pharmacy is added to your favorites, you will not have to search them again.
How many favorites can I have?
You can have an unlimited number of Favorite Pharmacies.
When I add a favorite pharmacy, do my scribes see them as well?
When a Scribe is writing a prescription under your name your Favorite Pharmacies will be available to them as well.
Can I enter a new Pharmacy that is not in the getRx database?
Yes. In order to enter a new Pharmacy you will need the following information, the Pharmacy name, address, phone number and fax number.
If I create a pharmacy will the pharmacy still be available to choose later for another prescription?
Yes. Once you have entered a pharmacy, the pharmacy stays in the getRx database.
Where is the prescription pad on the web portal?
On the web portal the prescription pad is available on many locations on the website. On the side menu you can locate the tab labeled Prescription Pad. Under a patient’s name you can also locate the prescription pad by selecting the orange tab found on the upper left corner of the screen, labeled “Write a new Prescription”. Under the tab labeled “Prescriptions” located on the side menu, you can also locate the prescription pad by selecting “New Prescription” which is located on the upper left corner of the screen.
Will my signature from the mobile transfer over to the web portal?
Yes. Once you have created your signature in your prescriber profile on your mobile device, it is then saved and transferred over to the web portal as well.
If I don’t have the prescriber app, how do make a signature on the web portal?
On the web portal we have two different options for you to be able to make your signature. A. You can write your signature down on a piece of paper, take a picture with your phone or camera and upload the signature to your profile. You can also draw your signature in a box that is located under your profile and then select save.
What happens if I can’t remember my password and I need to change my pin?
You can change your password first, then save the password and the select Personal Identification Number (PIN) for authentication and enter your new Pin number along with your password to confirm that it is you that is changing your pin number.
If I add a patient and add their email address on the patients’ profile, does the patient receive a notification by email about getRx?
This feature is currently under construction.
How do I know if a patient is on getRx?
On the web interface beside the name of every patient you will either see a symbol with a phone in a circle with a line through it, if this symbol is not there the patient does have getRx, if the symbol appears then they have not set up an account. This feature is not available on the mobile app.
Will all my information that is saved on my profile appear on the faxes sent to pharmacies?
Yes it will appear just like your office information would on a regular prescription pad.
Can I set up my prescriber account on the mobile?
Yes you can. Just simply select Sign Up on the login screen and fill in the information that is required.
If a scribe is not under approval queue, can he or she send scripts right away?
Yes, if you do not have a scribe set up for review, the scribe can send prescriptions off to the pharmacy in your name, and can also print off the prescription to give a patient in hand.
Do I have a do not disturb button that I can use to block incoming messages while on vacation?
At this time we do not have this functionality.
Can I delete a patient?
No, this functionality is not available at this time.
Can I discontinue a patients’ medication?
Yes. When you select a patient’s profile you are able to see all prescriptions that you and other prescribers have prescribed to this patient. You are only able to discontinue a medication that has been prescribed by you (the prescriber). To discontinue a medication the only thing you have to do is select the X beside the medication. Once this step has been taken you will receive a notification asking if you are sure you want to discontinue this medication for your patient? You then can select yes or no.
Can I still see a medication that has been discontinued?
Discontinued medications are viewable on the web portal under a patient’s profile. Discontinued medications are not viewable on the mobile app.
Can I refill a prescription on the web portal and or the mobile?
Yes. All refill requests will be found under Refill Requests on both Web and Mobile
How do I receive patient requests?
Once you have added a patient, and then they download getRx they will be able to send you (the prescriber) requests.
What functions may a scribe perform?
A scribe has the ability to write prescriptions under any permissions that have been set by the supervising prescriber. A scribe can message any patient and or prescriber in the clinic. A scribe also has the ability to create and or add favorite pharmacies.
Can prescriptions written by a mid-level appear in the approval and review queues of the supervising prescriber?
Yes. A Mid-Level and a Scribe can both be set under permissions such as Approval and or Review.
If I add a favorite pharmacy as a Clinic Administrator, will the whole clinic be able to see it?
Yes. All Pharmacies and patients that are added under the Clinic Admin will be shared with the whole clinic.
If I add a favorite pharmacy on my prescriber account, will everyone in the clinic be able to see it?
No, favorite pharmacies that are created under a prescriber’s profile will be his favorites and not shared with the clinic.
Can anyone change my pin?
No. In order to change your pin you must enter your password.
How can prescribe durable medical equipment or assistive devices?
If you are not prescribing a drug, you will leave blank the medication, dosage, route,and frequency fields and scroll down the prescription pad to the notes field. In the notes field, enter the durable medical equipment or device such as wheelchair.
After entering a drug name, do you have to enter the dosage, units, number of pills, etc, or can you just enter instructions in the notes below?
No you do not have to dosage, units, number of pills, etc. All you have to enter is the drug name.
Can you add and delete scribes, mid-levels and supervising prescribers at any time?
Yes. The Clinic Administrator is able to delete Scribes, Mid Level’s or Prescribers at any time.
Do you have to have more than one prescriber?
No, you can have one prescriber to make a clinic.
Does you have to have multiple prescribers to use the Professional Practice version of the App?
You can be a sole prescriber.
What is a Clinic Contact Email?
A Clinic Contact Email is an email address that the Clinic Administrator decides is the best person to receive all getRx clinic emails.
What is a Intra-Office Communication Email?
A Intra-Office Communication Email is an email address that the Clinic Administrator decides is the best for receiving all intra-office messaging.
Are a Clinic Contact Email and an Intra-Office Communication Email the same?
No, the Clinic Contact Email receives all confirmations for prescriptions that have been sent to a pharmacy. An Intra-Office Communication Email receives all messages that the clinic has sent directly to the office through getRx messaging.
Can you use the same email address for the Clinic Contact Email, and Inter-Office Email?
Yes you can.
Can you remove Favorite Pharmacies?
Yes, in order to remove a favorite pharmacy, select Remove Favorite which is seen below your favorite pharmacy.

Begin by selecting the ‘my pharmacies’ tab on the left side bar and then type the name of the pharmacy you wish to add into the ‘add favorite pharmacy’ slot. How do I set up my profile on mobile if I am set as a Clinic Administrator?
Clinic Administrators alone do not have access to the mobile app and must set up a profile on the web.
